I was, at this point, drawing from sketching books and I thought that my portrait was fine except for the hair texture and colour so I knew I needed help therefore this painting was the first one I learned on with Marie Paquette (my teacher). I learned to paint the hair, by layering the dark purple, brown as base, yellow, white and red as top. Shadow for face and neck with brown.

This was the 3rd portrait done under Marie Paquette supervision. I wanted to do face, arms and dress. First we draw the painting with pencil then we paint the face features (mix yellow ochre, orange, white and diluted brown for outline), arms (same as face plus purple for shadow areas on her right arm and brown for her left arm), dress (red, purple and orange) then hair (black and hilights white). Inspired from a poster.

This painting looks a lot like a cartoon character and I really like her like this. She is not quite real. The shadow on her forehead, her wide eyes, her quite white upper lip, her nose not quite rounded on top and the unrealistic shadow, accentuated lip crevace i.e. dark thick outline, eyes exagerqated curvature, extrimely white teeth.
